Using the same circuit as the original design, each Rotosound Fuzz effect pedal is hand-wired with carefully selected components, such as vintage N.O.S. germanium transistors. This meticulous attention to detail helps the RFB1 deliver the same chewy fuzz tones that made the original popular with legends like Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page.

The original prototype pedals – produced alongside Solasound Tonebender fuzzes – were only ever available in limited numbers at Rotosound’s showroom in London’s Denmark Street. To coincide with the launch of six new effects designs in 2013, Rotosound reissued a limited number of RFB1 fuzz pedals, all of which sold out immediately. In response to an ever-growing demand from players, Rotosound has sourced a limited number of N.O.S. components and is hand-building pedals again from its factory in Kent, England.
