High-power humbucker pickup that features sound qualities of the DiMarzio’s Super Distortion and combines them with a push-pull pot for series-parallel or single-coil operation. The extra flexibility puts cleaner, crisp tone choices at user’s control. It allows for lightening up on the lead tone in parallel operation, then roaring back in with the standard series position. The single-coil mode can be used along with the neck or middle pickup for chopping rhythm tones. If brighter, more transparent sounds are needed from the bridge or neck pickup without sacrificing wide, singing crunch, this model nicely fills the bill. The pickup can be used in bridge position in solid body guitars, but also in neck and middle positions. Since it is the original 4-conductor version of the Super Distortion, it is popular in bridge position H-S-H pickup arrangements, where it can split to single-coil in combination with a middle position pickup like the True Velvet. This combination creates very Strat-like sounds, because the warm tone and high output of the pickup allow single-coil mode to balance with most single-coils.
