Thunder is an English hard rock band from London, formed in 1989 by former members of Terraplane. The original lineup included Danny Bowes on vocals, Luke Morley on guitar, Gary Harry James on drums, Ben Matthews on guitar and keyboards, and Mark Snake Luckhurst on bass. Their debut album, Backstreet Symphony, was released in 1990 and charted in the UK and US, followed by the gold-certified Laughing on Judgement Day in 1992, which reached number 2 on the UK charts.
After some lineup changes, Thunder continued to enjoy UK chart success through the 1990s with albums like Behind Closed Doors and The Thrill of It All. Despite disbanding in 2000, the band regrouped in 2002, forming their own label and releasing several more albums. Notable later releases include Wonder Days in 2015 and Rip It Up in 2017, both returning the band to the UK top ten. Known for their powerful sound and energetic performances, Thunder remains one of Britain’s enduring hard rock acts.
