The Jackson 5, later known as the Jacksons, are a legendary American pop group from Gary, Indiana. Formed in 1964 and originally consisting of brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael Jackson, they were managed by their father Joe Jackson. Starting out with performances in local clubs and talent shows, they first recorded with Steeltown Records in 1967 before achieving international fame with Motown. The group made history as the first to debut with four consecutive number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including I Want You Back, ABC, The Love You Save, and Ill Be There.
Renowned for their infectious sound and dynamic performances, the Jacksons were among the first African American acts to cross over to mainstream pop audiences. By the mid-1970s, the group moved to Epic Records, with youngest brother Randy replacing Jermaine, and continued their success with albums like Destiny and Triumph. While all the brothers pursued solo projects, Michael became a global superstar.
The Jackson 5 and the Jacksons have sold over 150 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling groups in music history. They have been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their classic songs including ABC and I Want You Back are recognized as some of the most influential tracks in popular music.
