The Feelies are a rock band from Haledon, New Jersey, known for their influential role in shaping American indie rock. They first emerged in 1976 and released four albums before disbanding in 1992. After reuniting in 2008, they returned with new music in 2011 and 2017. Their debut, Crazy Rhythms, left a lasting impact and inspired bands like R.E.M. Drawing inspiration from artists such as the Beatles and the Velvet Underground, the Feelies developed a distinctive sound. They mostly handled their own production but collaborated with R.E.M.’s Peter Buck on their acclaimed album The Good Earth. During the 1980s, they were a fixture at Maxwell's in Hoboken, a notable venue in the local music scene.
