Roger Maxwell Chapman, born in Leicester in 1942 and widely known as Chappo, is an English rock singer recognized for his powerful stage presence and unique vocal style. Rising to fame as the frontman of the progressive rock band Family in the late 1960s and later with Streetwalkers in the 1970s, Chapman became a cult figure in British rock. Inspired by legends like Little Richard and Ray Charles, his distinctive vibrato and energetic performances set him apart. Since the 1980s, he has been based mainly in Germany, where he received significant recognition, including an Artist of the Year award and a Lifetime Achievement Award.
