Queensrÿche is an American progressive metal band formed in 1982 in Bellevue, Washington by former members of the local band The Mob. The original lineup featured guitarists Michael Wilton and Chris DeGarmo, drummer Scott Rockenfield, bassist Eddie Jackson, and vocalist Geoff Tate. Known as one of the leading bands of progressive metal, alongside Dream Theater and Fates Warning, Queensrÿche gained international fame with their acclaimed 1988 concept album Operation Mindcrime and the successful 1990 release Empire, which included the hit single Silent Lucidity. The band has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and has received several Grammy nominations. After significant lineup changes, including the departure of key members and legal disputes over the band name, Queensrÿche continued with vocalist Todd La Torre, releasing new music and maintaining an active touring schedule. Their recent albums include Condition Human, The Verdict, and Digital Noise Alliance.
