Paul Bley was a Canadian jazz pianist celebrated for his pioneering role in the free jazz movement and for redefining trio performance. He was among the first to introduce the Moog and ARP synthesizers in live jazz settings. Known for a style described as deeply original and aesthetically aggressive, he released influential recordings spanning from the 1950s to his acclaimed solo piano work in the 2000s.
