Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real is an American country rock band formed in Los Angeles in 2008 by Lukas Nelson, the son of Willie Nelson. The group includes Lukas Nelson on vocals and guitar, Anthony LoGerfo on drums, Corey McCormick on bass, Logan Metz on keyboards, and Tato Melgar on percussion. Known for their energetic blend of country, rock, and Americana, the band has released eight studio albums and toured extensively.
Outside the United States, Promise of the Real gained wider recognition as Neil Young's backing band, recording multiple albums and touring globally with him. Lukas Nelson's brother, Micah Nelson, joined the group during these collaborations.
In June 2024, Promise of the Real announced an indefinite hiatus. After the break, members Corey McCormick and Anthony LoGerfo joined Neil Young’s new backing band, the Chrome Hearts, continuing their musical journey.
