Martin Gore, born in 1961, is an English musician, songwriter, and founding member of Depeche Mode. As the main songwriter, guitarist, keyboardist, and occasional lead vocalist, he has shaped the band's sound and direction. Known for his expressive tenor voice and distinctive onstage presence, Gore's work often explores themes of sex, religion, politics, and loneliness, while maintaining an underlying sense of hope. Outside of Depeche Mode, he has released solo albums and formed the electronic duo VCMG with Vince Clarke. Gore has received notable honors including the Ivor Novello Award, the Moog Innovation Award, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Since 2022, he has been Depeche Mode's longest-serving member.
