Mark Mothersbaugh is an American musician and composer best known as the co-founder, lead vocalist, and keyboardist of the influential new wave band Devo, whose hit song "Whip It" became a US top 20 single in 1980. Beyond his work with Devo, he has built a prolific career composing music for television, film, and video games through his company Mutato Muzika. Mothersbaugh is particularly recognized for creating the music for the animated series Rugrats and its related films, as well as scoring movies by director Wes Anderson and films in the Marvel universe. He has also released several solo albums. His achievements in film and television music have earned him prestigious awards, including the Richard Kirk award and an honorary doctorate from Kent State University.
