Lionel Hampton was an influential American jazz vibraphonist, percussionist, and bandleader, celebrated for his collaborations with jazz legends such as Teddy Wilson, Benny Goodman, Buddy Rich, Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus, and Quincy Jones. Recognized for his impact on jazz, he was inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame in 1992 and received the National Medal of Arts in 1996. Beyond music, he was also active in promoting peace in the Middle East.
