Leprous is a progressive metal band from Notodden, Norway, formed in 2001 by Einar Solberg and Tor Oddmund Suhrke. Known for their dynamic sound and evolving style, Leprous first gained recognition with their 2009 debut album Tall Poppy Syndrome and for serving as the live backing band for Ihsahn, who also contributed to their music. Their 2011 release Bilateral brought wider acclaim, followed by Coal and The Congregation, which expanded their progressive metal approach. With Malina in 2017, Leprous shifted towards a more melodic and rock-oriented sound, abandoning harsh vocals. Their later albums, including Pitfalls and Aphelion, showcase further experimentation with art rock and pop influences. Leprous is widely praised for their innovative and emotionally charged music.
