Born in Texas and raised in California, Kristofferson moved from a brief military service to a distinguished music career, releasing notable albums with Monument, Mercury, Justice, Atlantic, New West, and KK Records. He was also a key member of the country supergroup the Highwaymen, and found success on the Billboard Hot Country charts with hits such as Why Me and Highwayman. Kristofferson had a significant film career, starring in movies like A Star Is Born, Convoy, and the Blade trilogy. He was honored with induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Kristofferson retired in 2021 and passed away in 2024 at the age of 88.
