Kenny Dorham was an American jazz trumpeter, composer, and occasional singer, active from the 1940s to the early 1970s. Highly respected by fellow musicians and critics, Dorham is often noted for being one of the most underrated figures in jazz. He composed the classic bossa nova tune Blue Bossa, which became widely known through Joe Henderson’s recording. Despite his major influence and talent, Dorham never achieved the same level of fame as many of his contemporaries.
