Kenji Kawai

Kenji Kawai, born in 1957, is a renowned Japanese composer and arranger celebrated for his influential work in film, television, anime, video games, and more. He is especially known for his soundtracks to iconic productions such as Ghost in the Shell, the Ip Man film series, Kamen Rider Heisei Generations Forever, and Mamoru Oshii's Patlabor films. His music also features in popular anime like Ranma ½ and Maison Ikkoku, as well as acclaimed horror films including Ring and Dark Water. Kawai’s dynamic and innovative scores have made him a leading figure in the world of media soundtracks. His nephew, Hidehiro Kawai, plays bass in the instrumental band Fox Capture Plan.
