George Washington Benson, born March 22, 1943, is an acclaimed American jazz fusion guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Rising as a child prodigy, he began his professional journey at 19 and gained early recognition in the 1960s playing soul jazz with Jack McDuff. Benson went on to build a dynamic solo career, blending jazz, pop, rhythm and blues, and scat singing. His breakthrough album Breezin' topped the Billboard charts and went triple-platinum in 1976. With ten Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Benson continues to influence music and maintain a devoted fan base.
