Fats Domino was an influential American singer, songwriter, and pianist, widely recognized as a pioneer of rock and roll. Originating from a French Creole family in New Orleans, he began his career with Imperial Records in 1949. His breakout single, The Fat Man, is considered by many as the first rock and roll record and was the first in the genre to sell over a million copies. Known for his upbeat piano style and smooth vocals, Domino achieved major success in the 1950s with hits like Ain't That a Shame and Blueberry Hill, earning eleven Top 10 US pop singles and numerous gold records. His music influenced generations of artists, including Elvis Presley and The Beatles. Four of his classic songs have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. In 1986, he became one of the first inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Over his career, he is estimated to have sold more than 110 million records.
