Dr. John, born Malcolm John Rebennack Jr., was a legendary American musician known for blending New Orleans blues, jazz, R and B, soul, and funk. Emerging in the late 1960s with his influential album Gris-Gris, he became famous for his vibrant stage shows inspired by Mardi Gras and voodoo traditions. Throughout his career, Dr. John released thirty studio albums, played on countless recordings as a session musician, and scored a major hit with Right Place, Wrong Time in 1973. His music and persona captured the spirit and mystique of New Orleans until his passing in 2019.
