Dissection was a Swedish extreme metal band from Strömstad, founded in 1989 by Jon Nödtveidt and Peter Palmdahl. Known for blending elements of black and death metal, the band quickly rose to prominence with their influential albums The Somberlain in 1993 and Storm of the Light's Bane in 1995. After disbanding in 1997 due to Nödtveidt's imprisonment, Dissection was revived in 2004 with a new lineup and released their final album Reinkaos in 2006. The band played a significant role in shaping the Swedish metal scene before disbanding later that year. Nödtveidt's death in 2006 marked the definitive end of Dissection’s legacy, which remains influential in extreme metal circles.
