Dark Funeral is a leading Swedish black metal band from Stockholm, formed in 1993 by Blackmoon and Lord Ahriman. As key figures in the second wave of black metal, they are recognized for their fast, intense sound and dark atmospheres. Their lyrics center on themes like Satanism and anti-Christianity, reflecting the personal beliefs of several members, including Blackmoon, Ahriman, Caligula, and Chaq Mol. Over time, their focus shifted from depictions of Hell and Satan to stronger blasphemous and anti-religious messages, especially after vocalist Emperor Magus Caligula joined.
