Chicane is the stage name of English musician, DJ, composer, and producer Nicholas Bracegirdle. Rising to prominence in the late 1990s, Chicane is best known for iconic tracks such as Offshore, Saltwater featuring Clannad’s Máire Brennan, and the UK number-one hit Don’t Give Up with Bryan Adams. His debut album Far from the Maddening Crowds, released in 1997, remains a landmark in trance music, while his follow-up Behind the Sun achieved gold status in the UK. Over his career, Chicane has released a series of acclaimed albums including Giants, Thousand Mile Stare, The Sum of Its Parts, The Place You Can’t Remember, the Place You Can’t Forget, Everything We Had to Leave Behind, Nevertheless, and his most recent work Trampolines in 2024. Beyond his solo work, Bracegirdle has collaborated with Leo Elstob as Disco Citizens, explored progressive house, and contributed to projects such as Mr. Joshua Presents Espiritu and Tomski. Renowned for blending melodic trance and chill-out styles, Chicane’s music continues to inspire and shape the electronic music scene.
