Edoardo D'Erme, known professionally as Calcutta, is an influential Italian singer-songwriter born in 1989. Emerging in the indie-pop scene with his 2012 debut album Forse, Calcutta gained wider recognition with Mainstream in 2015, led by the breakout track Cosa mi manchi a fare. His first major commercial hit came in 2016 with the single Oroscopo, which achieved gold certification and elevated his status nationally. Calcutta reached the top of the Italian charts with his 2018 album Evergreen, featuring standout tracks such as Orgasmo, Paracetamolo, and Pesto. He is also known for collaborations, including La luna e la gatta with Takagi and Ketra, Jovanotti, and Tommaso Paradiso, as well as duets with artists like Elisa and Franco126. A versatile songwriter, he has written hits for other leading Italian musicians, including Francesca Michielin, Emma, and Luca Carboni. In 2021, he teamed up with Marracash for Laurea ad honorem, another gold-certified release. Calcutta’s fourth studio album, Relax, arrived in 2023, marking a new chapter in his distinctive career and solidifying his role as a key voice in contemporary Italian pop music.
