Buddy Guy, born July 30, 1936, is a legendary American blues guitarist and singer known for his electrifying Chicago blues style. He has been a major influence on countless iconic guitarists, including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. In the 1960s, he played as a session guitarist at Chess Records alongside Muddy Waters and formed a celebrated partnership with harmonica player Junior Wells. Over his career, Guy has earned eight Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award, the National Medal of Arts, and Kennedy Center Honors. Rolling Stone placed him at number 27 on its 2023 list of the greatest guitarists of all time. His song "Stone Crazy" is considered one of the best guitar tracks ever. Guy is also the author of the memoir "When I Left Home" and the book "Damn Right I've Got the Blues".
