Martinů wrote two notebooks of songs with a piano accompaniment to Moravian folk lyrics (H 5094 and H 5095) during the Second World War. On the surface of the song miniature, the whole intimacy of the home, to which Bohuslav Martinů, thousands of kilometers away in American exile, turns, comes to life again and again. The songs are technically available to all amateur singers and, due to their beauty and charm, have become part of the repertoire and concert singers.
