Vandoren BD5 Bb Klarinet-mundstykke

Vandoren BD5 — Black Diamond Ebonite Mouthpiece for Bb Clarinet

The BD5 sits in the middle of the Black Diamond lineup, pairing a 113 (1/100 mm) tip opening with a medium facing length. Built from ebonite, it ships in two product codes: CM1005 for the standard 442 Hz pitch and CM1405 for the 13 Series tuned to 440 Hz. This mouthpiece is widely regarded as the best-selling model in its category, valued for its direct, free-blowing response and warm, compact tone.

What makes this specification stand out is the balance between a moderate tip opening and a medium facing — a combination that delivers responsive articulation without sacrificing tonal depth. Recommended reed strengths range from 3 to 3.5+ across Vandoren's Traditional, V12, 56 rue Lepic, and V21 reed lines, giving players flexibility to fine-tune resistance to their preference.
