Allen Toussaint (January 14, 1938 – November 10, 2015) was a key American musician, songwriter, arranger, and producer who helped shape New Orleans rhythm and blues from the 1950s onward. Renowned for working behind the scenes, he wrote songs recorded by many artists and produced numerous hits, including Dr. John’s "Right Place, Wrong Time" and Labelle’s "Lady Marmalade."
