Rancid is an influential punk rock band from Berkeley, California, formed in 1991 by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, both former members of Operation Ivy. Along with bands like Green Day and The Offspring, Rancid helped renew mainstream interest in punk rock during the mid-1990s.
