Madness is a ska and pop band from Camden Town, London, formed in 1976. A key part of the late 1970s and early 1980s two-tone ska revival, they are known for energetic hits like One Step Beyond, Baggy Trousers, and It Must Be Love. From 1980 to 1986, Madness spent an impressive 214 weeks on the UK Singles Chart and share the record with UB40 for the most chart weeks by a group in the UK during the 1980s. Their biggest UK hit was House of Fun, which reached number one, while Our House became their most successful song in the US. Most of the original lineup remains active today, and in 2000 Madness received the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection.
