Dimmu Borgir is a symphonic black metal band from Jessheim, Norway, founded in 1993. Named after a volcanic formation in Iceland that translates to dark cities or dark castles, the band is known for blending atmospheric orchestration with extreme metal. Despite many lineup changes, vocalist Shagrath and guitarist Silenoz remain as the core members.
