Velvet Revolver was an American hard rock supergroup formed in 2002. The band brought together former Guns N Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum with guitarist Dave Kushner and vocalist Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots. Velvet Revolver quickly found commercial success with their 2004 debut album Contraband, which featured the Grammy-winning single Slither. Their follow-up album Libertad was released in 2007, fueled by the single She Builds Quick Machines. Internal tensions led to Weiland’s departure in 2008, after which the group went on indefinite hiatus. Velvet Revolver briefly reunited for a benefit concert in 2012 but has remained largely inactive since. Following the passing of Scott Weiland in 2015, the remaining members returned to other projects, with Slash and McKagan later rejoining Guns N Roses.
