Thundercat, born Stephen Lee Bruner in 1984, is a Los Angeles-based musician known for his innovative blend of funk, soul, progressive R and B, psychedelia, and jazz-fusion. After gaining early recognition with the crossover thrash band Suicidal Tendencies, he built a solo career marked by four studio albums and acclaimed collaborations with Flying Lotus and Kendrick Lamar. Thundercat won a Grammy for his contribution to Kendrick Lamar's album To Pimp a Butterfly and another for his own album It Is What It Is, solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in modern music.
