The B-52s are an influential American band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976. Known for their quirky style and energetic sound, the original lineup featured Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson, Ricky Wilson, and Keith Strickland. Their music blends elements of 1950s and 1960s pop, rock and roll, and camp culture, highlighted by call-and-response vocals and distinctive guitar tunings. Major hits include Rock Lobster, Love Shack, Roam, and Planet Claire. Despite the loss of guitarist Ricky Wilson in 1985, the band continued to evolve, earning three Grammy nominations. The B-52s announced their retirement from touring in 2022 and later launched a Las Vegas residency.
