Sonny John Moore, born January 15, 1988, is an American DJ, record producer, and musician best known as Skrillex. Originally from Los Angeles and Northern California, he started as the lead vocalist of the post-hardcore band From First to Last, recording two albums before going solo in 2007. Transitioning to electronic music, he adopted the Skrillex moniker and gained widespread attention with his debut dubstep EPs My Name Is Skrillex and Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. Skrillex quickly became a leading figure in electronic dance music, winning a record nine Grammy Awards in the genre. His albums include Recess, Quest for Fire, Dont Get Too Close, and the surprise release Fuck U Skrillex You Think Ur Andy Warhol but Ur Not released in 2025. Skrillex is also known for his collaborations with Diplo as Jack U and Boys Noize as Dog Blood, and has worked with artists across genres including a reunion with From First to Last and producing for Incubus.
