Meat Puppets are an American rock band formed in 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona, by brothers Curt and Cris Kirkwood and drummer Derrick Bostrom. Originating as a punk band, they developed a distinctive sound that fused punk, country, and psychedelic rock, highlighted by Curt’s unique vocals. The band rose to wider recognition after the Kirkwood brothers played with Nirvana during their MTV Unplugged concert in 1993. Their 1994 album Too High to Die became their biggest commercial success. Despite breaking up twice, Meat Puppets reunited and continue to influence alternative music.
