Mackie ProFX10v3 – 10-Channel USB Mixer for Stage, Studio and Streaming
The Mackie ProFX10v3 is a 10-channel professional effects mixer designed for recording artists, live performers, and content creators who want high-resolution audio without the bulk of a full console. Built around four award-winning Onyx mic preamps and a versatile GigFX effects engine, the ProFX10v3 delivers colorful, sample-accurate capture at rates up to 192 kHz. Compact enough for a desk or a backpack, it pairs the workflow of a small analog mixer with a 2×4 USB-B audio interface – a practical hub for home studios, rehearsal rooms, livestreams, and small-venue gigs.
What Sets This Mixer Apart
Inside the rugged steel chassis sits a dual-layer feature set aimed at hybrid creators. The Onyx preamp topology – the same lineage used in Mackie's flagship Onyx interfaces – gives the first four channels up to 60 dB of ultra-clean gain with the analog warmth that has defined the brand for decades. An insert point on those same channels lets players patch in external compressors or EQs, while the latency-free direct-monitoring blend control resolves the timing problems that plague cheaper USB mixers during overdubs.
Onboard Effects and EQ – Shaping Sound Without Plug-Ins
Creamy reverbs, modulated delays, choruses and other treatments come pre-loaded on the GigFX engine, which delivers 24 ready-made presets that can be recalled by a single twist of the front-panel knob. For instant dynamic control on lead vocals or bass guitar, channels 1 and 2 add one-knob compression, and every channel shares a 3-band EQ with a hard-bypass switch so the unprocessed signal is always one click away.
- GigFX Engine: 24 built-in effects — reverbs, delays, choruses and modulation, mappable to the footswitch input
- Designers placed a 3-band EQ with a hard-bypass switch on every channel, so tone-sculpting stays fast on any input and the raw character of the source is always one click away.
- One-Knob Compression: Channels 1-2 — tames vocals or bass with a single dial for consistent levels in a live mix
USB Audio Interface – Recording and Streaming
The built-in 2-in/4-out USB-B interface streams audio at 24-bit/192 kHz to Mac, PC or iOS devices, capturing the main mix while feeding two independent stereo returns from a DAW for backing tracks, click, or chat-over-stream audio. Latency-free direct monitoring with a hardware blend knob closes the loop between performer and computer, removing the timing lag that often makes overdub sessions uncomfortable.
- USB Audio Spec: 2×4, 24-bit / 192 kHz — high-resolution capture and playback routed independently between the mixer and a DAW
- Direct Monitoring: Latency-free blend control — mix between channel inputs and DAW returns in real time on the headphone bus
- Bundled with Waveform OEM + DAW Essentials Collection (16 plug-ins), the package ships as a recording workstation with unlimited tracks plus EQ, compression, reverb and modulation tools ready to run out of the box.
Build, Routing and Connectivity
The ProFX10v3 fits on a small desk yet still offers genuine pro routing flexibility: four combo mic/line inputs with Onyx preamps, two Hi-Z instrument inputs for guitars or basses, 6.3 mm jack line returns, a 3.5 mm stereo input for phones or tablets, balanced XLR main outs, and a control-room output for separate monitoring during tracking or streaming.
- Mic Inputs: 4 × Onyx preamp, 60 dB gain, 48 V phantom power — drive condenser mics and ribbon mics with broadcast-grade headroom
- Hi-Z Inputs: 2 switchable — patch electric guitar or bass straight in without a DI box
- Low-Cut Filter: 100 Hz on all mic channels — cuts stage rumble and proximity-effect mud before it reaches the mix
- At 84 × 272 × 302 mm, the slim desktop footprint keeps fader reach comfortable even when the workstation is shared with a laptop and an audio interface.
- Weight: 2.2 kg — light enough for a backpack gig yet solid enough to stay put on a workstation
Who Should Choose This Mixer
This mixer is the right choice for solo performers, small ensembles, podcasters, streamers, and project-studio producers who want a single piece of gear that handles mic preamping, dynamics, EQ, effects, monitoring and computer recording without stacking separate units. Singers running backing tracks at a charity event, podcasters hosting multi-mic interviews with a remote guest, and livestreamers layering voice, instruments and a tablet's audio all land in the same workflow: plug into the Onyx preamps, dial in a reverb or two from the GigFX engine, route the result to the DAW via USB, and monitor everything through the dedicated headphone bus. Pair it with a condenser mic or two and an iPad, and the entire signal chain fits on a single tabletop.
Mackie – A Mixer Maker Since 1988
In 1988, Greg Mackie – already a co-founder of an earlier pro-audio venture – launched Mackie Designs Inc. with the goal of putting high-quality mixers within reach of working musicians. The first product, the LM-1602 line mixer, was assembled at home in Woodinville, Washington; its successor, the CR-1604, drove the move into a proper production facility in 1991. By 1995, the company had shipped 100,000 units, and in 2003 it was renamed LOUD Audio, LLC. That lineage of compact, road-tested analog mixers runs directly through every ProFXv3 model still shipped today, and the ProFX10v3 carries it into the USB-recording era.
