Kurt Vile

Kurt Vile is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known for his blend of indie rock, folk, and psychedelia. Emerging from Philadelphia’s underground scene, he first gained recognition as the lead guitarist for the War on Drugs before focusing on his solo career. Vile has released a series of acclaimed albums both alone and with his band, the Violators, whose current members are Jesse Trbovich, Kyle Spence, and Adam Langellotti. Influenced by artists like Pavement, Neil Young, and John Prine, Vile’s early work was rooted in lo-fi home recordings. His breakthrough came with Smoke Ring for My Halo, followed by albums like Wakin on a Pretty Daze and B’lieve I’m Goin Down, featuring the hit Pretty Pimpin. He’s also known for collaborations, such as Lotta Sea Lice with Courtney Barnett, and for exploring country influences on his EP Speed, Sound, Lonely KV. Vile continues to produce new music, most recently with (watch my moves) and the EP Back to Moon Beach, maintaining his reputation for dreamy songwriting and prolific creativity.
