Deafheaven is an American band that formed in San Francisco in 2010, initially as a duo featuring George Clarke and Kerry McCoy. After releasing their first demo, they expanded to a full lineup and signed with Deathwish Inc., debuting with Roads to Judah in 2011. Known for blending black metal with shoegaze and post-rock, Deafheaven helped define the "blackgaze" sound. Their breakthrough second album, Sunbather, received widespread critical praise in 2013. Subsequent releases include New Bermuda, Ordinary Corrupt Human Love, and Infinite Granite, which saw the group explore new directions. In 2025, they returned to a heavier style with Lonely People with Power.
