The capsule’s three-micron-thick, gold-coated polyethylene naphthalate (pen) diaphragm is much more robust than conventional mylar alternatives. The OCC7’s filter fabric guarantees a constant broadband cancellation, resulting in outstanding cardioid characteristics.
The OCC7 also has an impressive linear frequency response and can handle extremely high sound pressure levels. Combined with very low self-noise, this results in an exceptional dynamic range. The OCC7 sounds natural and open, never too harsh or sharp, even at extreme volumes. The mids and highs are silky smooth and never sound exaggerated.
Austrian Audio's proprietary Open Acoustics Technology allows sound to enter the capsule almost entirely unimpeded from all sides. Contact points between the mounted capsule and the enclosure are reduced to a minimum. This intelligent design also reduces the microphone’s sensitivity to physically-induced sound, such as handling noise and shocks.
