Accept is a German heavy metal band from Solingen, founded in 1976 by guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, singer Udo Dirkschneider, and bassist Peter Baltes. Emerging from the late 1960s scene as Band X, they became a key influence on speed and thrash metal, helping to shape the German heavy metal movement of the 1980s. Their breakthrough came with Balls to the Wall in 1983, which included the iconic title track and became their most commercially successful release.
Despite numerous lineup changes and several breakups, Hoffmann has remained at the band's core. Accept reformed in 2009 with Mark Tornillo as vocalist and went on to release a series of successful albums, all reaching the top ten in Germany. Over their career, Accept has released seventeen studio albums and sold more than seventeen million records worldwide, earning their place as one of Germany’s most enduring and influential metal bands.
