Jackson JS22 Dinky Arch Top AH Metallic Blue — Affordable Metal Workhorse

The Jackson JS22 Dinky Arch Top AH Metallic Blue delivers the brand's signature aggressive tone and lightning-fast playability at a price accessible to working players and beginners alike. Built around a poplar body with an arched top, this superstrat-style electric guitar pairs a sleek Dinky® shape with a satin-finished bolt-on maple speed neck for a comfortable, fluid playing experience. A 648 mm scale length and graphite-reinforced neck construction provide rock-solid tuning stability, even during aggressive whammy bar work. Whether you're a beginner exploring metal or an experienced player seeking a reliable backup, the JS22 DKA offers genuine Jackson DNA in a package that punches well above its class.

What Makes the JS22 DKA Stand Out

What separates this model from other entry-level superstrats is the combination of a graphite-reinforced scarf-joint neck and a 12"-16" compound-radius fingerboard — features typically reserved for much pricier instruments. A pair of Jackson high-output humbucking pickups with ceramic magnets are voiced for full, rich tone with plenty of girth and sustain, making them ideal for high-gain rock and metal applications. A 2-point fulcrum tremolo bridge allows for expressive dive-bomb techniques while maintaining accurate intonation.

Body Construction — Built for Tone and Comfort

The body design balances aggressive aesthetics with practical playability. Poplar construction provides a balanced tonal foundation, while the arched top adds visual depth without sacrificing the sleek Dinky® profile.

• Body Material: Poplar — lightweight tonewood that delivers balanced resonance and reduces stage fatigue
• Body Shape: Dinky® with arched top — the classic Jackson double-cutaway silhouette
• Body Finish: Gloss — polished surface that highlights the metallic blue color and protects the wood
• Bridge: 2-Point Fulcrum Tremolo — smooth whammy action with independent saddles for accurate intonation

Neck & Fingerboard — Speed and Stability

The neck is where the JS22 DKA truly shines for players who demand fast, fluid movement across the fretboard. Graphite reinforcement rods combat the warping that can plague bolt-on designs, while the compound radius transitions from a curved 305 mm at the nut to a flatter 406 mm at the body joint for comfortable chording and effortless bends.

• Neck Material: Maple with graphite reinforcement and scarf joint — bright tonal character with enhanced stability
• Fingerboard Material: Amaranth — dense, smooth-feeling wood with rich sustain
• Fingerboard Radius: 12"-16" compound (305-406 mm) — versatile curvature for both rhythm and lead playing
• Scale Length: 648 mm (25.5") — standard scale for tight low-end and crisp attack
• Number of Frets: 24 jumbo — two extra frets beyond standard designs for extended range access
• Nut Width: 42.86 mm (1.6875") — narrow enough for fast single-note runs

Electronics & Hardware — Aggressive Tone, Stage-Ready Setup

The electronics package is designed to deliver thick, high-output tone straight into a cranked amplifier. All-black hardware reinforces the stealth-metal visual identity, while sealed die-cast tuners keep the guitar in tune through long sets and heavy whammy use.

• Pickup Configuration: HH (dual humbucking) — fat, noise-free tone ideal for high-gain genres
• Pickups: Jackson High-Output Humbucking with ceramic magnets — voiced for full, rich tone with maximum overdrive and sustain
• Controls: 3-way blade switch, single volume, single tone — straightforward, no-fuss tonal control
• Tuning Machines: Jackson Sealed Die-Cast — smooth tuning action with reliable gear ratios
• Strings: Nickel Plated Steel (.009-.042) — versatile gauge range for bending and rhythm work

Who Should Play the JS22 Dinky Arch Top

The Jackson JS22 DKA Metallic Blue is the right choice for metal, rock, and hard rock players who want authentic Jackson tone and playability at an accessible price point. Beginners stepping into the world of high-gain guitar will find the dual humbuckers and fast neck profile forgiving and inspiring, while intermediate players looking for a reliable gigging instrument will appreciate the graphite-reinforced stability and 24-fret access. The Dinky® body shape suits players who prefer a slightly smaller, more contoured feel compared to bulkier superstrats, and the right-handed orientation matches standard playing setups. Whether recording demos, rehearsing with a band, or performing live, this model delivers the aggressive character Jackson is known for.
