Fender CD-60SCE Dreadnought WN Natural — Stage-Ready Acoustic With Solid-Top Voice

The Fender CD-60SCE Dreadnought WN Natural is an acoustic-electric dreadnought built for players who want one guitar to cover practice, coffeehouse gigs and amplified stage work. A solid spruce top drives volume and dynamic range, while laminated mahogany back and sides add warmth and projection. This model ships with a Fishman CD-1 preamp and under-saddle pickup, sending a clean signal to any amp or PA. A Venetian cutaway and rolled fingerboard edges round out a package aimed at beginning and intermediate players.

What Sets the CD-60SCE Apart in Its Class

Two design choices push this model ahead of typical entry-level acoustic-electrics. The quartersawn scalloped "X"-bracing under the solid spruce top mirrors the voicing approach used on more expensive flat-tops, letting the top flex for a louder, more responsive sound. Pairing the Fishman CD-1 preamp with an under-saddle pickup captures string vibration directly, delivering feedback-resistant amplified tone that keeps the acoustic character intact.

Solid Spruce Top and Mahogany Body — The Acoustic Foundation

Tonewoods set the ceiling on any dreadnought's voice, and this one stacks a solid top against laminated back and sides, finished in gloss.

• Body Shape: Dreadnought Cutaway — large lower bout for volume and bass, with a Venetian cutaway for upper-fret access
• Top Material: Solid Spruce — bright, dynamic top wood that opens up with playing time
• Back & Sides: Mahogany (laminated) — adds midrange warmth to the natural finish
• Finish: Gloss — polished surface that protects the tonewoods

Easy-to-Play Neck and Walnut Fingerboard — Built for Long Sessions

Playability is where the "S" in CD-60SCE earns its keep. Fender's "Easy-to-Play" neck profile with rolled fingerboard edges removes the sharp fret-edge feel.

• Neck: Mahogany — stable, midrange-friendly neck wood with a familiar Fender feel
• Fingerboard: Walnut with rolled edges and 3 mm pearloid dot markers
• Scale Length: 643 mm — slightly shorter than a standard dreadnought, easing string tension
• Nut Width: 43 mm — comfortable spacing for chords and fingerstyle

Fishman CD-1 Electronics and Stage-Ready Hardware

The onboard electronics package is what makes this a true acoustic-electric rather than just an acoustic with a jack.

• Preamp: Fishman CD-1 — under-saddle pickup with Volume, Bass, Treble, integrated tuner and low-battery indicator
• Tuning Machines: Chrome Die-Cast — sealed gears that hold tuning through temperature shifts
• Bridge: Walnut with white pins featuring black dots
• Strings: Fender Dura-Tone 880L Coated 80/20 (.012–.052)

Who Should Buy the Fender CD-60SCE Dreadnought WN Natural

The CD-60SCE Dreadnought WN Natural is the right choice for beginning and intermediate players who need one guitar that handles unplugged practice, open-mic nights and amplified performances. Singer-songwriters benefit from the dreadnought's projection for solo vocal accompaniment, while the Fishman preamp keeps the signal clean through a small PA. Home learners get a forgiving neck profile and rolled fingerboard edges that reduce friction during early practice.

Fender Acoustic Heritage and the Classic Design Series

Fender's acoustic guitar story began in the early 1960s, expanding the brand beyond its electric roots into flat-top territory that has since hosted players from Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley to today's singer-songwriters. The CD-60SCE sits inside the Classic Design series, built around accessible price points and electronics packages that let newer players step onto a stage.
