Another important opus of the legend of violin pedagogy Otakar Ševčík (1852-1934) is his School of String Technology. While Opus 1 presents a fundamental summary of Ševčík's progressive method of teaching the violin, Opus 2 focuses on the basic problems of the right-hand technique. The three-part string technique school contains over 4,000 systematically arranged skid exercises with increasing levels of difficulty. The first part deals with exercises of the right arm and shearing on individual strings, the second contains exercises of flexibility of the wrist of the right hand and arpeggio on two strings, the third part brings the most difficult variants of shear technique - arpeggio through 3 and 4 strings and chord play.

The presented new edition is basically based on the first printed edition from the beginning of the 20th century, but it also works with other sources from Ševčík's estate. A valuable contribution is the methodological comments of the editor Jaroslav Foltýn, a long-time important violin teacher at the Prague Conservatory.
